Stitch a Ribbon for Cancer

Posted by admin on Friday, September 30, 2011

While we’re not doing a Stitch Pink quilt this year, we are providing patterns to help raise awareness – not just for breast cancer, but other types of cancer as well.

Last week’s pattern featured a pretty bird in pink for breast cancer, and this week we are providing a pattern for an assortment of ribbons. The pattern is available here as a pdf document.

The ribbon colors correspond with the following types of cancer:

Pink – Breast Cancer
Teal – Ovarian Cancer
Pearl  – Lung Cancer
White – Bone Cancer
Brown – Colorectal Cancer
Purple – Pancreatic & Leiomyosarcoma
Orange – Leukemia
Emerald Green – Liver Cancer
Periwinkle – Esophageal and Stomach Cancer
Amber – Appendix Cancer
Black – Melanoma
Dark Blue – Colon Cancer
Burgundy – Multiple Myeloma
Grey – Brain Cancer
Blue – Prostate Cancer
Yellow- Sarcoma/Bone/Bladder Cancer
Gold – Childhood Cancer
Lime – Lymphoma
Peach – Uterine Cancer
Kelly Green – Kidney Cancer
Lavender – All Cancers

The pattern includes color numbers for working each ribbon in DMC Embroidery Threads, and measures approximately 1.5 x 3 inches when worked on 14-count CharlesCraft Aida fabric.
